Chris Pratt chased down and detained a bloodied man on the beach in a blood-pumping scene he filmed for his sci-fi movie Mercy in Malibu on Wednesday.
The 44-year-old movie star plays an LAPD detective struggling to show that he is not guilty of a violent crime he is accused of committing.
His attempts unfold against the backdrop of a futuristic city with a skyrocketing murder rate, adding another layer to his woes.
Although the first name of his character is not currently known, the nametag on his police uniform during his sighting this week revealed his last name is Raven.
In the scene he shot on Wednesday, Chris leapt out of a police car and raced onto the beach before apprehending his suspect in the waves.

The character he detained had long hair and a mustache, and his face was smeared with fake movie blood as Chris placed him under arrest.
'Raven' had to chase his quarry into the shallows and eventually pulled out his gun, leading the other man to put his hands in the air.
Pointing his gun squarely at the man he was attempting to arrest, Chris' character made him turn around and face out towards the horizon.
Chris then approached him from behind until he was close enough to take hold of him, bring him to the sand and force him to his knees.
Wearing a distraught expression on his face, the suspect kept his hands at the back of his head as instructed by Chris' character.
Between takes, Chris exhibited his signature cheerful disposition, grinning and standing with his legs crossed and his hands at his hips.
His costume, however, indicated the fraught and dangerous life his character leads, as the police uniform was augmented by a bulletproof vest.
Chris stars in Mercy opposite Dune actress Rebecca Ferguson, amid a cast that includes True Detective: Night Country star Kali Reis.

Peaky Blinders alumna Annabelle Wallis, who has also featured in projects like The Tudors and Malignant, is also one of Chris' co-stars.
The movie is directed by the Russo-Kazakh filmmaker Timur Bekmambetov, who rose to fame in Russia but in recent years has worked largely in the west.
Timur's first Hollywood film was the 2008 action movie Wanted starring Angelina Jolie - which happened to feature Chris in a supporting role.
The last time Chris worked with Timur, the former was still a jobbing actor who had yet to become a beloved sitcom star on Parks And Recreation.
Mercy is a project from Amazon MGM Studios, but has been approved for a global theatrical release, the executives confirmed to Deadline.
